Mean annual temperature is 6,3 degree Celsius, annual precipitation is 1.298,5 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in July at 169,8 mm, at its lowest in April at 63,2 mm. It’s warmest in July, coolest in January.
The small and quaint village of Maria Alm is nestled between the mighty 3000 m Hochkönig Mountain and the Steinerne Meer. The charm of the region lies in its combination of tradition, cultural landscape and modern leisure activities.
Skiing on several mountains
In winter this region belongs to the realm of the Hochkönig Mountain. Together with the communities of Hinterthal, Dienten and Mühlbach am Hochkönig, Maria Alm forms one of the largest ski areas in Austria. 34 modern ski lifts serve a total of 150 kilometres of pistes set against the impressive mountain landscape. The “fantastic Maria Alm Ski School” has an excellent reputation and has taught thousands of children and adults how to ski. Do not miss the view from the 2000 meter Aberg overlooking the entire Pinzgau.
High mountains and green meadows
Salzburg State in summer is shaped by lush green meadows. 340 marked hiking trails into the majestic mountains are available. Maria Alm is starting point of the new Königsweg Trail, which takes you through the entire region to Mühlbach am Hochkönig. Hotels in Maria Alm offer special packages where you do not have to worry about your luggage.
Mountaineers will love the via ferratas of the Steinerne Meer, mountain bikers even reach the Berchtesgadener Land in Germany on the Watzmann-Hochkönig-Tour and families can take a trip to the renowned city of Salzburg. Maria Alm is worth visiting any time of the year.
