The small town of Saalfelden is nestled amidst breathtaking scenery in the heart of the Salzburg Pinzgau. This holiday region at the Steinerne Meer Mountains offers cultural as well as sports highlights.
In winter Saalfelden and Saalbach Hinterglemm offer 200km of perfectly groomed ski slopes. 55 ski-lifts serve the local mountains Schattberg and Kohlmais. The neighbouring Glemm Valley can be reached via the Asitzgipfel Mountain.
Sports and culture in Saalfelden - Leogang
In summer there is a lot to discover in the Leogang area. In the “Valley of Games” families follow the traces of a kobold living on Kodok Mountain. Nature enthusiasts will explore the landscape on 400 km of hiking trails and the cities of Saalfelden and Zell am See invite to a short visit. Saalfelden is host of the international Saalfelden Jazz Festival taking place each year. Museums and cultural project attract visitors all year.
Leogang Mountain Biking Paradise
Mountain bikers and especially downhillers love this region for its diverse alpine terrain. Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang offer numerous trails of varying difficulty, but the most demanding tour is the BIG 5 Challenge covering more the 5000 m difference in altitude from Leogang to Schattberg and Saalbach Hinterglemm.
