The Community of Galtür
Galtür is situated at 1.584 m above sea level in the province of Tyrol. The community has 878 inhabitants and covers an area of 121,2 km².

Mean annual temperature is 3,4 degree Celsius, annual precipitation is 1.081,9 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in August at 166,1 mm, at its lowest in April at 44,7 mm. It’s warmest in July, coolest in January.
What`s up in Galtür?
The small mountain community of Galtür is located at the very end of the Paznaun Valley at 1600m above sea level. In winter Galtür is only accessible from Tyrol, whereas in summer it is possible to drive to Vorarlberg and other holiday destinations such as Gaschurn via the scenic Silvretta High Alpine Road.
74km of cross-country tracks and ski area
In winter Galtür is the ideal place to spend relaxing holidays. Enjoy some peace on a cross-country tour along one of the beautiful runs or explore the region on a snowshoe walk together with the Galtür Ski School.
Skiers and snowboarders will find the perfect slope in the Galtür ski area. 10 lifts serve 40 km of ski-runs on the massive Ballunspitze Mountain. Once a week it is even possible to ski late at night: it is a special experience to ski at night surrounded only by mountains 3000 m high. The Silvretta Ski Pass includes the entire Paznaun Valley, so have fun skiing also in Ischgl, Kappl and See.
Summer in Galtür
Galtür is the perfect place for hiking tours. For centuries the Paznaun Valley has been connected to Switzerland through mule tracks. Still today, it is possible to reach the neighbouring Engadin on one of these tracks. Many fantastic mountain hiking tours start right from the highest village of the Paznaun Valley. The Panorama Trail and the roundtrip at the Lake Kopsee are suitable for all levels of experience. At the end of the day regain some of the strength at one of the top class hotels in Galtür.
Silvretta-Ferwall-Marathon
Galtür is also very well known among mountain bikers. Numerous tours attract mountain bikers from all over the world. The Ischgl Ironbike competition (78km mountainbike race with 3800 m difference in altitude) as well as the international Silvretta-Ferwall-Marathon in Galtür are very popular events (42 kilometres over the Muttenjoch Mountain at 2600 metres) – high-performance sport at the highest level!
