The Community of Gerlos
Gerlos is situated at 1.247 m above sea level in the province of Tyrol. The community has 786 inhabitants and covers an area of 118,7 km².

Mean annual temperature is 6,3 degree Celsius, annual precipitation is 1.214,1 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in July at 179,4 mm, at its lowest in December at 43,6 mm. It’s warmest in July, coolest in January.

Winter fun in the biggest ski area of the Ziller Valley
165 kilometres of downhill skiing served by 51 modern ski-lifts make the Ziller Valley one of Austria’s top ski areas. Zell am Ziller, Gerlos and Königsleiten form the biggest connected ski area of the Ziller Valley. Gerlos is the perfect starting point to explore the Ziller Valley by ski or snowboard. Ski-pistes of all degrees of difficulty range from 1300m to 2500m. Many mountain cottages and bars invite to a little stop. Enjoy the sunny weather and the exciting view to snow-capped mountains.
For longer holidays, the Zillertal Super Ski Pass valid for 640 piste-kilometres and 169 lifts is the perfect alternative. The ski areas of Hochfügen-Kaltenbach, Zillertal Arena, Ziller Valley 3000 (Penken, Mayrhofen, Finkenberg) and Hintertux Glacier form the largest skiing group of the Alps.
There is a lot offered also off the snowy ski-runs: enjoy the beautiful cross-country trails of the Gerlos Valley, take a winter walk through one of the five tributary valleys or try the 7km toboggan run.
Activity and wellness programme
There are lots of ways to spend your summer holidays in Gerlos. The ‘Berg aktiv’ (active mountain) programme includes hikes, family bicycle tours, torch walks, mountain biking – everything perfectly organized and guided by tour experts. Looking for more excitement? - Gerlos offers high ropes courses and canyoning.
Swimmers will enjoy the Durlaßboden reservoir located at 1600m. During the summer months the lake warms up to 21°C and is perfect after an adventurous day. Europe’s highest waterfalls, the Krimml waterfalls, are very close.
