The community of Hochgurgl
Hochgurgl is situated at 2.150 m above sea level in the province of Tyrol. The community has 3.423 inhabitants and covers an area of 466.9 km².

Located at 2150m and surrounded by Tyrol’s highest mountains, the high Alpine holiday resort of Hochgurgl is rightly called the “diamond of the Alps”.
Due to the high altitude the ski area of Obergurgl – Hochgurgl is the first one to start the winter season in Austria. Lifts open for skiers and boarders in mid-November. In 1998 the two ski resorts of Obergurgl and Hochgurgl were connected by a modern panorama lift. Skiers and boarders can enjoy a total of 110 piste kilometres for all levels of ability. Complete perfect winter holidays with a snowshoe walk or a toboggan run in the evening.

Hochgurgl is very well known for its exclusive hotels and outstanding restaurants. 24 hotels are of the highest hotel category (four and five stars) and guarantee top quality. Enjoy a glass of champagne in the panorama bar “Top Mountain Star" at the 3080 m Wurmkogel Mountain and maybe you can even spot the famous Italian Dolomites while good weahter conditions.
