Where is Cerler?
Cerler is part of the municipality of Benasque in the Spanish province of Huesca. The village is located in the so-called Benasque Valley in Aragon at an elevation of 1,560 m asl. It is the highest village of the Aragonese Pyrenees, home to only 250 people. The neighbouring Aneto (3,404 m), the highest summit of the Pyrenees, is the impressive highlight of the skyline completed by sixty 3000m peaks such as the Maladeta, the Perdiguero and the Posets, which makes this region an attractive destination in the winter and the summer alike.
The historic centre of Cerler was carefully restored. Some of the houses date from the 16th century. Although many tourists come to this region Cerler has still kept the authentic charm of a typical Pyrenean village.
Cars can be parked at the El-Molino and the Ampriu parking.
What's going on in this Spanish village?
Cerler is not only a charming alpine village, it is also the gateway to Aramón-Cerler ski resort (in short: Amarón). It is the highest and the third largest ski resort in the Aragonese Pyrenees, offering ski runs of all levels of difficulty, most of which are located above 1,900 m asl. Lifts and pistes are stretched over the Ampriu and Cerler valleys. Cerler ski area, surrounded by sixty 3000m summits, has another highlight in store for you: skiing on the piste featuring the biggest height difference from start to finish – believe it or not 1,130 meters. The unforgettable run starts at Gallinero summit and should not be missed.
The ski resort is also very popular with kids, who spend a wonderful time in the magic forest, at ski schools and at the 'Snowy Zone'. Of course there are many green and blue pistes, where beginners make their first skiing experience. In the summer it is a real hiking paradise.
