Each winter, many visitors praise this location sheltered from the winds and enjoy the modern lifts. The Radstadt webcam provides information about the opening and closing times of the lifts. Skiers and snowboarders can use the extensive public shuttle system without charge to get to the Flachau, Obertauern, Reiteralm and Zauchensee ski areas.

Also in summer Radstadt is a popular destination for families and sports enthusiasts. There are carefully signposted hiking routes in the Radstädter Tauern mountains and on the Dachstein mountain. The 120 mountain huts and chalets serve refreshments to hungry hikers and mountain bikers. Check the weather forecast at the feratel webcam to see whether the weather conditions may alter your hiking plans. The Amadé Bike Marathon starts and ends in Radstadt and attracts 2000 cycling fans each May. Another summertime highlight is the 18-hole golf course of Radstadt. The mountain ranges and the medieval town create a terrific backdrop where golfers of all handicaps enjoy their rounds.
The epithet “Ancient Mountain Town“ reflects the fact that the history of Radstadt goes back to the 4th century BC. Traces of the Celtic and Roman settlement can only be found in the local Heimatmuseum, but the Middle Ages still dominate the townscape in some parts of Radstadt. The nightwatchman of Radstadt in his traditional livery and with his lantern tells the visitors sagas and stories and thus takes them back into the Middle Ages. Traditional customs are reflected by farmers markets and craft fairs, the Almabtrieb (ceremonial driving down of cattle from the mountain pastures into the valley in autumn), and the Kirchtag (fair). During the Bauernherbst (harvest festival) over 2,000 events take place throughout the Province of Salzburg each year.
