Bad St. Leonhard, the heart of the upper Lavanttal Valley, has been a popular spa since the beginning of the 20th century. Its sulphur mineral spring eases rheumatic pains, drinking and spa water is taken from the "Preblauer Sauerbrunnen“.
Sights to see in Bad St. Leonhard are the Gothic church dedicated to St. Leonhard, the main square with Biedermeier buildings and the statue of the Virgin Mary from the 18th century. Among the many castle ruins and palaces, the renaissance Wiesenau castle is probably the most famous one.
Bad St. Leonhard is situated at the bottom of the family skiing and hiking area of Klippitztörl. In winter this region has a good range of slopes for all levels of ability and in summer a vast net of hiking trails, a summer toboggan run and numerous events to enjoy great hiking holidays.
