The market town of Ulrichsberg at 626 metre lies in Upper Austria and borders the Czech Republic to the east and Bavaria to the west. Ulrichsberg and environs are home to around 3000 residents. Ulrichsberg was first mentioned in 1325. The community belonged to the Diocese of Passau for a very long time.
Ulrichsberg is surrounded by an extensive hilly landscape belonging to the Bohemian Forest and its foothills. The countryside is considered a paradise for nature-lovers and hikers in winter as well as in summer. The Bohemian Forest, known for its original scenery, is home to a great variety of animals and plants – the perfect spot to relax and recreate. Moldaublick-lookout offers a great view of Lipno Dam in the Czech Republic. There is also a lookout towards Bavaria.
The wintry Bohemian Forest is the centre of Nordic skiing offering about 70 kilometres of cross-country skiing tracks. Those who prefer downhill skiing only have to visit Hochficht Ski Resort 8 kilometres away.
The upper Mühlviertel lies in a mixed climate zone. This means pleasant temperatures in the spring and the autumn with little rain. While the winter is cold with lots of snow and temperatures between -5°C and +3°C, the summer can be very warm with average temperature of 25°C but lots of rain. There is hardly any wind in this area.
Every year in May Ulrichsberg turns into the centre of Jazz. At ‘Ulrichsberg Kaleidophon’ stars of the international Jazz scene meet.feratel>Webcams / weather>Austria>Oberösterreich>Ulrichsberg - Bohemian Forest
