Großarl is situated at 924 m above sea level in the province of Salzburg. The community has 3.634 inhabitants and covers an area of 129,2 km².
Mean annual temperature is 7,6 degree Celsius, annual precipitation is 1.147,3 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in July at 173,1 mm, at its lowest in December at 53 mm. It’s warmest in July, coolest in January.
