Maria Alm is situated at 802 m above sea level in the province of Salzburg. The community has 2.076 inhabitants and covers an area of 125,41 km².
Mean annual temperature is 6,3 degree Celsius, annual precipitation is 1.298,5 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in July at 169,8 mm, at its lowest in April at 63,2 mm. It’s warmest in July, coolest in January.
The small and quaint village of Maria Alm is nestled between the mighty 3000 m Hochkönig Mountain and the Steinerne Meer. The charm of the region lies in its combination of tradition, cultural landscape and modern leisure activities.

Maria Alm is starting point of the new Königsweg Trail, which takes you through the entire region to Mühlbach am Hochkönig.
