Pertisau on the eastern shore of Lake Achensee combines modernity, hospitality and unique landscape. Due to its ideal location, Pertisau is the perfect starting point for hikes and mountain tours through Tyrol’s largest nature reserve - Alpenpark Karwendel. Anyone who wants to get up the mountain fast should take the Karwendel Mountain Lift. Montain bikers will find a vast network of trails. Even Emperor Maximilian chose Pertisau as his favoured hunting ground and many aristocrats and artist got inspired by this charming village. The successful history of the summer resort can be followed on a stroll through the village centre or along the lakeside promenade, e.g. the oldest golf course of Austria is also the most beautiful of the region.
Pertisau is home to many leading spa hotels due largely to Tyrolean stone oil, a healing natural product that can be found in the Bächen Valley/Karwendel Mountains. Around noon every day the Ave Maria hymn can be heard in the whole village and remembers the days when Pertisau did not have any bells.
Pertisau is the main landing place for the Achensee steam boats, which have been cruising between Achenkirch, Maurach, and Pertisau since 1887. Every day the lake comes alive with the bright sails of the windsurfers and the sailing boats. But there are many other outdoor opportunities: fishing, tennis, running, Nordic walking and lots more.
