The community of Courchevel

Located at 1,350 meters above sea level in the French Alps, Courchevel and the towns of Belleville and Meribel form what is likely Europe’s biggest ski area: “Trois Vallées”, the Three Valleys.

Courchevel has the typical climate of the French Alps with average temperatures around freezing in the winter and the coldest months from December to February. In summer Courchevel records average temperatures around 15 degrees below 2,000 meters above sea level. Naturally the hottest time in the Alps is from June to September, when it also rains the most.

What’s happening in Courchevel?

Courchevel is also called the St. Tropez of winter sports and attracts numerous celebrities. This exclusivity is reflected in the high quality of the accommodation and some excellent restaurants awarded 7 Michelin stars.

Winter in the mountains...

With more than 600 km of slopes in the Trois Vallées region, both beginners and advanced skiers have diverse levels of difficulty available to them from traditional forest runs to adventurous downhill runs. For non-skiers there is a wide range of alternative sports such as ice climbing, sledding or Snake Gliss, where several sleds are joined together to form a train.

...and summer in the air

In summer, recreational activity high up awaits you in Courchevel. Unique to Europe, the “Altiport” – an airfield in the high mountains – makes this possible. Offerings range from walking flights by helicopter to flights with a paraglider or in a hot air balloon or visiting aerobatic teams that are part of the Summer Grand Prix ski jumping competition.

Another past sporting highlight of summer was the Tour de France, for which Courchevel was the stage finish three times.
