Aside from Bad Tölz, the community of Lenggries is the largest community in Bavaria in terms of size. At an altitude of 679 m the health spa of Lenggries is situated in the Alpine foothills at the Karwendel Mountains.
The average temperature is 7,5°C. The wettest months are June and July with 19 rainy days, spring has an average of 11 rainy days. July is the hottest month, January the coldest.
The Falkenhof Medieval Pageant, the Lenggries Art Week, the Folk Festival and the traditional Christmas Market offer every visitor an insight to Bavaria’s rich traditions.
The highest mountain in Lenggries is Scharfreuter Mountain at 2.106 m, Brauneck Mountain at 1.556 m, however, is the region’s best known mountain. This mountain features a cable car offering exciting mountain adventures in summer and in winter. Brauneck Mountain is a hiking and skiing area very much suitable for families.
The ski resort boasts various trails from training terrain to world cup pistes. Brauneck is the ideal family ski area. Brauneck High Trail is a famous loop trail known for its beautiful vantage points. In good weather it is possible to see as far as the City of Munich and the highest mountain in Germany, Zugspitze Mountain.
