Bormio, 1.225 m above sea level, is a town located in Lombardy, a region of northern Italy – in the neighborhood of world-famous ski resorts, including Livigno, St. Moritz and Scuol. The slopes Stelvio, Valbella and Betulle are very popular among demanding skiers and snowboarders. Skiers who are not yet comfortable skiing slopes like this have 50 km of pistes offering easier runs down into the valley. Cross-country skiers can enjoy 13 km of easy cross-country ski trails in Bormio. The best way to end a day of winter sports is to visit one of the spas – relax and enjoy being pampered!
In summer, Bormio is especially popular with two-wheeled vehicle drivers. Many motorcyclists come to Bormio going over the nearby Stilfserjoch, Gavia and Bernina Passes. The surrounding mountain world with its passes und graveled roads also provides attractive opportunities for road biking and mountain biking. And there are no limits to hiking pleasures – hikers will find much to love along the paths and hikes in the Stilfserjoch National Park.
A ride aboard the small red Rhaetian Railway is a special highlight. It goes from Tirano directly to St. Moritz, Switzerland. In Bormio the historic town center, the city museum and the mineralogical museum are worth visiting.
