Together with Steg and Gaflei uns Masescha, Malbun forms the community of Triesenberg in the Principality of Liechtenstein. The village is located at 1,600 meters and is the only winter sports area in the country. At the beginning of the 20th Century, Malbun only consisted of a few scattered huts and small settlements. The expansion to a skiing and hiking area in the 1950s led to the economic upswing and development of the village.
Malbun is a popular excursion and holiday destination for families in summer and winter. The Swiss Tourism Association confirmed this by awarding the region the “Families Welcome” seal of approval. A 400-km-long hiking trail system runs through the Liechtenstein Rätikon mountain range. Many paths are suitable for baby strollers and also allow families with small children to enjoy a wonderful mountain panorama. However, the Three Sisters trail and the Fürstensteig have exposed passages and are only recommended for experienced hikers.
Malbun is also captivating in winter with its family friendliness. The concept of the ski resort is highly family-oriented – in Malbi Park the little ones can start their first attempt on skis and the ski schools offer courses for children and adults. On the diversely designed ski slopes, 23 kilometers of runs provide fun for the entire family. The 15 km of cross-country trails in the neighboring community of Steg are well groomed and partly lit up at night.
The average annual temperature is 8.2 degrees Celsius. The greatest amount of precipitation in Malbun falls in July with 16 days of rain and the least amount in October. The warmest month is July and the coldest is January.feratel>Webcams / weather>Liechtenstein >Triesenberg - Malbun
