Adelboden is situated at 1.350 m above sea level in the canton of Bern. The community has 3.618 inhabitants and covers an area of 88,2 km².
Mean annual temperature is 5,4 degree Celsius, annual precipitation is 1.346 mm. Rainfall is at its highest in August at 155 mm, at its lowest in October at 84 mm. It’s warmest in July, coolest in January.

In winter, the largest ski region in the Bernese Oberland offers an impressive variety of snow sports. 72 high-performance mountain transport lifts serve a network of pistes covering a total of 210km. As well as the ever popular skiing and snowboarding, you can also enjoy countless prepared winter hiking trails, cross country ski tracks, and sledge runs – all within easy reach. If you are on the lookout for something special, then there’s ice climbing, snowtubing or airboarding to really get the adrenalin flowing.
Thanks to its high elevation, summer in Adelboden is ideal for walking, biking or riding the motorless downhill scooters (Trottinett). The dense network of hiking trails covers over 300km from valley to mountain summit. Two cable cars and three gondola lifts enable mountain bikes to be transported easily to the starting point of a high-speed descent. The recently opened Adelboden Leisure and Sports Arena is the perfect weather-independent place for individuals or groups to enjoy sports such as ice skating, curling, ten-pen bowling or indoor climbing all the year round, and it also has its own restaurant. The Tropical Hothouse (Tropenhaus) in neighbouring Frutigen gives visitors an impressive demonstration of how naturally warm underground water from the Lötschberg Base Tunnel can be utilised for the cultivation of exotic plants and the farming of caviar-producing sturgeon fish.
