The community of Andermatt is located in the Swiss canton of Uri an der Reuss and covers an area of 62.15km². It is home to 1.408 residents.
The average annual temperature is around 4,54.3°C, the yearly precipitation is 1,400mm. Andermatt sees the most rain in April with 135 mm, while February is the driest month with 106mm. July is the hottest month, January the coldest.
Andermatt-Sedrun ski resort is famous for its great winter sports activities and special events such as the “King of the Mountain”.
Andermatt in winter attracts winter sports enthusiasts from far and near. Skiers and snow-boarders can enjoy a total of 120km of pistes suitable for experts and beginners. Terrain parks, cross parks and extensive freeriding courses complete the offer. The slopes are served by 20 lifts. 139km of cross-country skiing and 62km winter hiking trails are the perfect alternative to skiing. “King of the Mountain” is one of the most famous and most popular open freeriding contest. The winner is the fastest from the top down to the bottom of the mountain.
Andermatt in summer features a great number of hiking and walking trails. Recommended: Schöllenen loop trail and Five-Lakes-Hike .
