Predigtstuhl is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps. Depending on the starting point the walking time to the peak is about 3 – 6 hours, or take the famous Predigtstuhl cable car at Bad Reichenhall and you reach the top in 8,5 minutes year round. The cable car has been operating for 80 years, which makes it the oldest original cable car in the world. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Alpine foothills and get a glimpse of Lake Chiemsee located between the high mountains of the Bavarian and Tyrolean Alps. The peak station also houses a mountain restaurant with a terrace offering tasty delicacies and cakes.
In winter Mount Predigtstuhl is off-the-beaten-track. Enjoy recreational walks on partly cleared trails, snow shoe excursions to the peak or backcountry skiing in authentic winter scenery. Ortovox avalanche training facility offers many courses for backcountry skiers. If you are looking for relaxation, have a rest in the deckchairs on the glass terrace of the mountain restaurant or enjoy the winter sun in front of the alpine hut Schlegelmunde.
In summer Mount Predigtstuhl offers a wide range of hiking tours with various levels of difficulty. Feel free to choose the easy trail leading you from the top station to the peak in half an hour, or a more demanding hiking tour. Experienced hikers try the Karkopf tour offering breathtaking views of the Berchtesgaden valley. For many decades the alpine air on Mount Predigtstuhl has been used as treatment to relieve symptoms of respiratory disorders such as asthma or allergies to mildew.
