Schillig is a village in the municipality of Wangerland located in the state of Lower Saxony/Germany. Schillig sits on the north-eastern tip of the East Frisian peninsula twenty kilometres north of Wilhelmshaven, affectionately called “Cape of Good Rest”. Surrounded by nature, vast marshland and the deep blue North Sea, it is the perfect spot to relax and take a break away from daily life.

Schillig, Horumersiel and Hooksiel are worth visiting any time of the year. In winter and early spring, the air is particularly clear and soothing. The impressive forces of nature during high and low tide are a must-see. Join a guided mudflat hike and explore the local fauna and flora.
In fine weather visit the island of Wangeroode, relax in a beach chair and enjoy the view of the sea. Hooksiel old harbour is a listed building and today accommodates a museum. The old harbour used to be the gateway to the town of Jever.

The municipality of Wangerland has a dike line of 30 kilometres. The beautiful sandy beach in Schillig is around three kilometres long and borders the grassy beach of Horumersiel. In good weather, Schillig beach is perfect for walking, swimming and relaxing. Children can swing, climb, slide and jump on the trampoline at the large beach playground. Enjoy local food at the kiosks, snack bars and restaurants.
The towns on the North Sea are known for their harsh climate. The bordering towns of Schillig and Horumersiel are a popular destination any time of year. Average temperatures are between 0 °C and 21 °C. Summers see pleasant temperatures, while winters are long, and very cold. It is windy all year round. The best time to visit is from June to September.
