Nové Město na Moravě is centrally located at 594 meters. The origins of the town, which currently has 10,000 inhabitants, stem back to the 13th Century when a Cistercian monastery was founded here. Northwest of the city is a ski resort of the same name where the cross-country ski World Cup is held.
The ski area of Nové Město na Moravě extends to the slopes of Harusův Kopec, which at 740 meters is the highest mountain in the region. The area is known and popular among cross-country skiers in particular. The competition for the “Golden Ski of the Bohemian-Moravian Mountains” trophy is part of the World Cup each year. Nove Mesto na Moravě is also popular among mountain bikers. The Mountain Bike World Cup and other events will be held here in summer.
