Where is Pontresina in Engadin?

The Swiss municipality of Pontresina is a located in the Maloja region, which belongs to the Graubünden canton. It lies at an elevation of 1.805 m in Val Bernina, a tributary valley of Engadin, not far from the world famous ski resorts of St. Moritz and Samedan. Enclosed by Bernina Pass this mountain village sits right at all the well-known peaks of Engadin: Piz Palü, Muottas Muragl, Corvatsch, Morteratschand and Piz Bernina – with 4'049 m the highest mountain of the Eastern Alps. The charm of the traditional Engadin houses and the elegance of the big Belle Époque hotels take visitors on a journey to a long forgotten period.

High-alpine Pontresina offers great fun for all: ice climbing on metres high icicles, snow kiting on frozen Lago Bianco, hiking and biking along glaciers and mountains, charming mountain lakes or meadows and forests.
