Where is Ratschings?

The Italian Municipality of Ratschings belongs to the Trentino – Alto Adige Region and lies at an elevation of 945 up to 3,471 m. The centre of Ratschings is situated at an elevation of 976 m. The municipality covers an area of 203.5 km² and is home to 4,447 people. As it is close to the Tirolean border, Neustift in the Stubai Valley and Sölden in the Ötz Valley are neighbouring communities. Ratschings is divided into seven districts, the most popular ones are Jaufental, Mareit and Ridnaun.

Ratschings – Jaufen Ski Resort (1,300 m to 2,150 m) is one of the most modern and snow-reliable ski areas in South Tirol. 8 efficient lifts, a total of 25 km perfectly groomed ski pistes, a halfpipe and breathtaking panoramic scenery are the ideal setting for wonderful skiing holidays. Off the alpine ski trails we recommend the 5 km-long toboggan run in Ratschings and the popular Biathlon Centre in Ridnaun. Cross-country skiers enjoy marvellous views of the surrounding mountain ranges along the cross-country skiing run, starting at Ratschings – Jaufen mountain station. 

What's going on in the summer?

Tourism plays an important role in Ratschings – Jaufen area. The local tourist board counts about 350,000 overnight stays every year. Tourists find a wide range of holiday attractions in winter as well as in summer. Enjoy one of the many hiking trails through unspoilt countryside along beautiful moor lakes and many panoramic observation points. Mountainbikers find many exciting trails in the surroundings. Race cyclists can plan demanding tours at Jaufen Pass or the Penserjoch.

Do not miss to visit Sterzing, which is only 12 km away. Take a stroll through the picturesque town centre, enjoy shopping or a nice cappuccino in a café. It only takes one hour to get to Innsbruck, the capital of Tirol. Or enjoy a nice drive via Jaufen Pass to the beautiful Passeier Valley and Meran. There are so many things to discover in this area.
