Where is Schwaz?

Schwaz is located in the Tirolean Inn Valley and is part of the district of Schwaz. The village covers an area of 20.94 km² from 556 m a.s.l. to 2,200 a.s.l. and includes Pill, Niederberg, Pillberg and Hochpillberg. It is home to around 1170 people who attach great importance to local traditions such as marksmen club,  marching band or young farmers club.

Located in the Karwendel Silberregion, Pillberg has a wide range of activities to offer in winterKellerjoch Ski Resort is especially popular among families and joy skiers. At about 2,000 m, this resort offers perfectly groomed slopes, mostly no waiting at the lifts and a breathtaking view to the Karwendel Mountains. Tobogganing is possible on the 4 km Bruderwald Run from Grafenast down to Arzberg. Close to the lift you find the 1,5 km Ochsenbründl Tobogganing Run leading through snowy meadows and forests. 

Whether ski touring, snow shoe hikes, cross-country skiing or winter walks – winter sport enthusiasts will find the right offer here: many ski touring opportunities, fantastic high alpine cross-country skiing trails or fun winter hiking paths, boasting beautiful scenery and many traditional huts. 

Karwendel Silberregion is a very popular hiking and excursion destination in spring, summer and autumn. Fresh mountain air, green meadows and a fantastic view of the Inn Valley, Rofan Mountains and the Glaciers of Ziller Valley make sure your stay is a relaxing one.  Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, pleasure hiker or visiting with kids, you will find the perfect trail in the Pill-Pillberg region, encompassing about 100km hiking trails. Worth visiting are also Pill Waterfalls plus via ferrata or the Ten-Chapel-Trail. Kellerjoch Mountain features a wide range of trails from very challenging to easy tours suitable for children, such as “Weg der Sinne” or “Almenweg”.

Mountain biking routes run through beautiful meadows and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain summits. 

Traditional restaurants, guesthouses or hotels, such as Hecherhaus am Kellerjoch, Alpengasthof Loas, Gasthof Sumperer, Biohotel Grafenast, Panorama Hotel or Waldhütte complete the offer.
