The small market town Gols lies in the heart of the Austrian province of Burgenland close to the Hungarian border. Gols belongs to the wine-growing district of Neusiedl am See and is home to 4,000 people. Lake Neusiedl and its picturesque countryside are well-known tourist destinations. Nearly every road leads to Gols, Vienna can be reached in 40 minutes, Neusiedl am See and Podersdorf in less than a quarter of an hour.

After indulging in all these culinary delicacies, you may need some sports activities, such as following the famous Jacob's Trail in Burgenland. Starting at Frauenkirche Church in Gols the trail passes baroque hunting seats of Maria Theresia, leads through vineyards, pastures and forests along Austria’s largest lake, Lake Neusiedl.
Lake Neusiedl is a very popular tourist destination. The area attracts young and old, offering a wide range of activities such as sailing, surfing, rowing and many attractions in the surroundings.
Wine has of course a high economic and social significance in Austria’s most important wine-growing village. The municipality covers an area of 4223 ha, nearly half of which is used for wine-growing. The most popular folk festival of Burgenland takes place in Gols in mid-August (Feast of St. Mary) with music, dance and entertainment. Special exhibitions and “Pannonia” trade fair are important events during the summer.
