The canton of St. Gallen is located in the north-east of Switzerland and borders Germany, Liechtenstein and Austria as well as the cantons of Thurgau, Zurich, Schwyz, Glarus, Graubünden and Appenzell Innerrhoden/Ausserrhoden. With an area of around 2,000 km², it is one of the larger cantons and has a population of over 520,000.
