The many beautiful lakes, such as Lake Wörthersee, Lake Millstätter See, Lake Ossiacher See and Lake Weissensee, but also smaller bodies of water such as Lake Faaker See, Lake Klopeiner See and Lake Pressegger See, contribute significantly to the booming summer tourism. They invite young and old to enjoy a refreshing swim in the clear fresh water. In the protected areas of the Nockberge and Hohe Tauern National Parks, you can experience nature at its most beautiful in high mountains, mid-mountain alpine landscapes and gentle plains. Unforgettable experiences await, especially around the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain: The Grossglockner High Alpine Road offers spectacular views and leads directly to Heiligenblut - a charming mountain village with a striking church against an imposing mountain backdrop, which you can also admire from the comfort of your own home using the webcam. Hikes into the Hohe Tauern National Park start here, for example to the Pasterze, the largest glacier in the Eastern Alps.
In addition to trekking tours, such as the leisurely but extensive Drau cycle path tour, the Nockberge region attracts countless mountain bikers . Road cyclists also get their money's worth on freeride trails and routes for every level of difficulty. Nine Carinthian golf courses make the hearts of golf enthusiasts beat faster. In addition to the northernmost course at 1,100 meters above sea level in the Nockberge mountains, a course in Grado/Italy is also part of the Carinthian Golf Cooperation.
