Prešovský kraj (Eperies region) is located in the north-east of Slovakia and borders Poland and Ukraine as well as the Slovakian regions of Košický and Banskobystrický kraj. At around 8,975 km², it is the second largest part of the country and, with around 820,000 inhabitants, the most populous after Bratislava. The regional capital Prešov is a city rich in tradition with a baroque old town and a lively cultural scene. Geographically, the region is extremely diverse: it includes parts of the High Tatras, the highest mountains in Slovakia, as well as the Slovak Paradise mountain range and the Pieniny Mountains.
