The Plzeňský kraj (German: Pilsner Region) is located in the west of the Czech Republic and borders on Germany (Bavaria) and the regions of Karlovarský, Ústecký, Středočeský and Jihočeský kraj. With around 580,000 inhabitants on approximately 7,600 km², it is one of the largest regions in the Czech Republic in terms of area, with a rather low population density.
