Places to see in Göstling

In summer the Hochkar Mountain is a farmed mountain pasture and starting point for the vast network of marked hiking trails (157 km) through the Göstling Alps. Guided hikes are conducted once a week in July and August. Nature can be experienced in various ways: along the Alpine trail ‘Hochkar-Dürrenstein-Ötscher’, which is a very difficult route and runs mostly above the tree-line, along the bicycle and hiking path ‘The Power of Water’, or on the way to the Hochkar cave: it’s the third biggest cave with stalactites in Lower Austria and has two chambers which have been equipped with electric lighting. In the Mendlingtal Adventure World visitors can have a look at the last timber rafting plant in Europe.
Cyclists can choose from a great number of mountainbiking tours of varying length and degrees of difficulty. The most recent attraction on the Hochkar is an outdoor-sports-package including rafting, high ropes course, climbing, via ferrata, abseiling and cave trekking.

Göstling enjoys a long tradition as winter holiday destination. The Hochkar is one of the biggest and snowiest skiing areas in Lower Austria. The tourism offer in winter is complemented by another smaller skiing area - the Steinbach lifts, the Hochreith panorama cross-country ski track with floodlight, paths for winter hikes, a big playground with toboggan and wave run for children, guided snowshoe walks in the open country, indoor swimming pool, the ‘Göstling Wellness World’ at the village centre and an ice-rink at the village square.
