Hochkar is one of the biggest and snowiest ski resorts of the province. It is home of many professional ski racers and one of the most popular ski resorts in the Eastern Alps. It features eight lifts, twenty ski runs, kids‘ terrain and freeriding park. Nineteen kilometres of piste  include easy family runs as well as steep mogul pistes. Enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape at the top of 1,808m Hochkar mountain.

X-country skiing is a must when holidaying in Göstling: Hochreit  x-country skiing trails are located on a high plateau and therefore above the fog line. Ablass Farm with snack bar is start and finish of the x-country skiing centre, including ski rental, training trail, winter playground,  changing rooms and toilets.

Since the winter season of 2022/23 there have been two fantastic snowshoeing trails available: 5km Ablass-Groß Schöntal Tour and 7km Hochreit-Panorama Tour. Adequate equipment can be rented at Ablass Snack Bar.
All those who prefer traditional winter hikes may choose from 50km of groomed hiking trails, such as the trail through the romantic Steinbachtal valley or farm to farm trail.

Ybbstaler Solebad is the perfect place to relax after an eventful and active day outside. The pool is filled with 1.5 % to 3 % brine water and the water temperature reaches 32 to 34 degrees. Emotion Life Centre offers massages, sports and pain therapies, various fitness classes, cosmetic treatments, and medical therapies.

In the summer Hochkar is the starting point for 157 km of waymarked hiking trails through the Göstling Alps. Guided tours can be joined once a week in July and August: Alpinweg Hochkar-Dürrenstein-Ötscher tour, very difficult trail above the treeline with stunning views to the valley, “The Power of Water“ nature biking and hiking path, Steinbachtal trail,  or Hochkar-cave trail.

Mountain bikers can choose from a great number of tours varying in difficulty and length. Other outdoor activities include rafting, high ropes course, climbing, via ferrate, abseiling or cave trekking.
