Bramberg lies in the Zell am See district of Austria’s Salzburg province at an elevation of 819 metres above sea level. The community covers an area of 117.27 km2 and has 3,936 permanent residents.
Two communities, Bramberg am Wildkogel and Neukirchen am Grossvenediger, make up the holiday region known as the “Wildkogel Arena”, renowned as probably the friendliest vacation area in all of Austria.
In winter, 55 km of outstandingly groomed pistes await skiers, above all families, rookies, adults returning to the sport after a hiatus, along with “aces” and variant skiers, all of whom find everything here they could possibly wish for in a perfect winter getaway. Since 2010, the new “Smaragdbahn” lift takes you directly from the centre of Bramberg up into the “Wildkogel Arena” ski area. State-of-the-art lifts, broad slopes, the views of Hohe Tauern National Park’s 3,000 m peaks, and all of that at elevations where great snow conditions are guaranteed, promises the ultimate in pure skiing enjoyment!
But that’s far from all: Bramberg is also the starting point for the “longest floodlit toboggan run in the world”. An amazing 14 km in length, you will ride through snow-blanketed forests from over 2,000 m elevation down to the valley and Bramberg, an absolutely unique experience for big and small alike.
Numerous winter hiking paths, the Pinzga Loipe cross-country trail, guided snowshoeing, theme excursions such as “Mountain Deer in Winter” and much more add the perfect finishing touches to all that a winter here has to offer.
During the summer months, Bramberg is an ideal base for hiking and mountaineering tours. For example, the Habachtal (valley with the only emerald deposits in all of Europe) in Hohe Tauern National Park invites you to enjoy a leisurely hike along a new theme path, and then afterwards you even get to hunt for emeralds yourself.
Or, there is also a high-alpine hiking area on the Wildkogel, which serves up one unique impression after the next, and is easy to reach from Neukirchen by taking a ride on the 6-passenger cabin lift. Our “Wildkogel Aktiv” program, with its guided hiking and mountain tours, children’s program, culture and more, assures you of a holiday here with us in Bramberg that couldn’t possibly be any richer in variety and lasting moments!
