Farming in Achenkirch is still an important economic factor. The Sixenhof Museum of Local History gives insight to the life and work of the farmers in the old days. 19 rooms exhibit farming and manual equipment, a blacksmith’s, a shoemaker’s workplace and weaving mill.
The Annakirchl Church – a popular destination for walkers – provides a fantastic view to Achenkirch. This little church is also an insider tip for romantic weddings.
Both mountain bikers and golfers like to visit Achenkirch. One of the Lake Achensee golf courses can be found just above the village on a charming plateau. The lake is accessible from all sides, but it is also known for its cool temperatures as it is fed by crystal-clear mountain brooks. Water fun, however, can be enjoyed in a covered swimming area with pleasant temperatures. Around the lake there are many other sports opportunities: tennis, squash, horseback riding, sailing, surfing, inline skating, jogging, Nordic walking and lots more.
