Penken Mountain, Finkenberg’s local mountain, can be reached within a few minutes by the Finkenberg cable-car. From there it is possible to explore the Ziller Valley 3000 ski area in all directions. Carve on pistes of every level and enjoy the view from Horberg Mountain. How about a 72 km tour to Tux up the Hintertux Glacier? All of this is possible thanks to modern ski-lifts and free ski busses.
Hikers and mountain bikers start to arrive in the Ziller Valley as soon as the snow recedes. The lush green meadows of the Tux Alps invite to outdoor activities. The Finkenberg and the Eggalmbahn cable-cars provide unlimited hiking options. The area has some of the finest sections of long-distance walks - the Tyrol High Altitude Trail, the Tyrol Eagle’s Trail and the Berlin High Altitude Trail all passing the Ziller Valley. A total of 800 km of marked trails up to 2000 m is available in the Ziller Valley.
The Ziller Valley Nature Reserve is another landmark of this area. The State of Tyrol, the Austrian Alpine Association as well as the tourism federations of Mayrhofen and Finkenberg supervise this high Alpine nature park. A hiking programme provides information about the impressive nature reserve.
