Where is Kals am Großglockner?

The Austrian municipality of Kals am Großglockner is located in the Lienz district/Tirol, bordering Salzburg and Carinthia. It is home to 1,142 people and covers the area of  Kalser valley and a small part of Isel valley. It is surrounded by the Hohen Tauern Mountains. Ködnitz is about 30 kilometres nor'-nor'-westerly of the city of Lienz. Kals lies at the foot of Großglockner Mountain (3798 m), the highest mountain in Austria. Großglockner Mountain is popular with outdoor adventurers, particular for hiking, climbing and cycling.

In 2008 the lifts of Kals and of Goldried connected and so became the biggest ski resort network in East Tirol, featuring 41.6 kilometres of pistes and 16 state-of-the-art lifts.
