The village is located in the Tirolean Innsbruck Land district, Austria. Neustift is situated at an elevation of 1000 m above sea level and is one of the most beautiful villages in Stubaital valley – 5 different glaciers form a giant glacier ski resort covering 15 km². The village owes its popularity to the Stubai glacier ski resort, which has always been proudly promoted as “Kingdom of Snow“.
Stubai Glacier guarantees absolute snow cover for your ski or snowboard holidays from the beginning of October until the end of May. No matter which level of difficulty, young or old, pro skier or beginner, snowboarder or freerider - Schlick 2000 and Stubai Glacier Ski Resorts offer the right piste to everyone. There are also plenty of opportunities for those who are not tired after skiing or snowboarding: enjoy après-ski at the umbrella bar, or in one of the cosy pubs or traditional alpine cabins.
Cross-country skiers find more than 100 km of cross-country ski trails for classic and skate style in the surroundings of Neustift. One highlight is the 4,5-km-long high alpine cross-country trail at Stubai glacier, but there are also very attractive trails in Neustift-Dorf, Milders and Falbeson. Neustift im Stubaital offers you great opportunities to spend active holidays also in the summer. Discover the many romantic side valleys for hiking tours. For climbers the Elfer north face, Elferkogel, Ilm Peak or Ochsenwand are very recommendable. Neustift area offers 110 km of trailmarked biking tours. When it gets really hot, the open air bath above the village offers refreshment.
The Seven Summits Stubai are a must for hiking lovers: seven summits that have one thing in common: impressive mountain masses which tell stories and form this strikingly beautiful countryside. One of these giants is Elfer Peak. When the sun hits the mountain you can perfectly see its beauty. “Neustift's local mountain” has an elevation of 2.500 m. It looks similar to the Dolomites, its shape is bold and scraggy, which makes it especially popular among climbers from all over the world. The tour starts at the Elferbahn Valley Station. Get a ride up to the mountain station to enjoy a wonderful view of the Alps.
The distance between the capital of the Alps Innsbruck and the glacier is only 25 km. There is a frequent bus service to the mountain village at Stubai glacier. By car it takes you half an hour to get to Neustift. Parking is available at the valley station.
