The Austrian Lake Piburger See is located in the Ötz valley in Tirol. The municipality of Ötz is home to about 2,200 people and covers an area of 29.2 km². It lies at an altitude of 812m, Lake Piburg is about 100m higher and can be reached on a 3.5 km walk through a picturesque landscape.

Lake Piburger See is one of the warmest Tirolean lakes, featuring beach area, restaurant with lakeside terrace, sunbathing area, and huge floating raft. Rowing boats are available for rent. The beautiful and calm atmosphere at the lake are perfect for fishing and diving. Many events take place in and around the lake in the summer, such as “Piburger Seawurm” hobby triathlon or “Music at Lake Piburger See”. The hiking trail around the lake is ideal for families and children. In the winter, the surface of the lake turns into a perfect ice-skating area – two-kilometre long and eight kilometre wide! The ice rink is free of charge and can also be used without skating boots. Enjoy the great vistas of the surrounding mountains, such as Acherkogel while crossing the frozen lake. Acherkogelbahn lift in Oetz takes skiers and snowboarders to Hochoetz ski resort at 2,000m. The ski resort features 41 perfectly groomed kilometres of piste and stunning scenery. Hochoetz ski resort is perfectly equipped to cater for the needs of families and children – ski school, terrain park, all day child-care. The little ones will be expert skiers in no time. Day lift tickets and weekly lift tickets are also valid at Kühtai ski resort, being one snow-surest ski resorts in Tirol. Kühtai be reached also without a car, the free ski bus takes skiers from Ötz to Kühtai via Hochoetz. Besides perfect tracks in the big glacier ski resorts Sölden, Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, cross-country skiers find 143 kilometres of trails in Längenfeld, Umhausen, Gries and Niederthai.
Ötz Valley in the summer means soft green meadows, idyllic mountain pastures, clear mountain lakes and romantic mountain villages. Timmelsjoch at 2,509m marks the border to Italy. The pass can be crossed by car, motorbike, or bicycle - Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road takes you all the way to South Tirol. The beginning of the Ötz Valley enjoys a milder climate with lots of sunshine and hotter temperatures; even wine growing is possible here. Families and children will be thrilled by the adventure playground “Widiversum”, featuring 36 play stations, eight riddles, three exciting themed trails and two missions concerning the mountain sheep “Widi”.
