The idyllic village Walchsee is located at the foot of the impressive Kaiser Mountains in the Kaiserwinkl region between Lake Walchsee and Zahmer Kaiser Mountains. It can easily be reached from Germany via A93. The holiday destination is very popular, but not overcrowded, offering perfect harmony of sports activities and relaxation.
Lake Walchsee is one of the warmest swimming lakes in Tirol. With a water temperature of 24°C during the summer months it is the perfect place for swimming and relaxing. The lakeside promenade invites you to wonderful and recreational walks around the 5,6 km-long lake. Have a nice rest at the beach bar. Lake Walchsee is also very popular among fishers.
In the summer the area is a real paradise for hiking and biking. 200 km of signposted walking routes and hiking tours lead through the amazing countryside of Kaiserwinkl. Easy walks or challenging several-day tours to one of the many alpine cabins - you will be spoilt for choice. There is also a vast variety of possibilities for cyclists. Enjoy the beauty of Kaiserwinkl along 180 km of signposted bicycle routes.
There is a lot of fun and action for kids as well as for adults at the “Zahmer Kaiser” recreation centre. Take the chairlift up to “Zahmer Kaiser” mountain station and get your kicks from racing down the summer luge run.
Kössen and Zahmer Kaiser are family-friendly ski destinations, offering 37 km of pistes. Take the cable car to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy skiing and exploring the wonderful winter atmosphere on the northern slopes of the Kaiser Mountains.
Kaiserwinkl is also one of the largest cross-country skiing areas in Tirol. Enjoy 127 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski tracks suitable for skate and classic skis. The use of the tracks is for free.
