In summer, the Hössbahn cable car provides access to the largest alpine pasture area in the Stodertal - the Höss. This tranquil and dreamlike environment is ideal for hikes and excursions. Various hiking routes and the famous Flötzersteig trail lead from 550 to 2,000 meters above sea level and offer access to the most beautiful vantage points in the Stodertal. A special highlight are the two panoramic platforms "Dachsteinblick" on the Hutterer Höss and "Stoderblick" on the Poppenberg, which offer spectacular panoramic views. Panoramic boards provide additional insights into the mountain world of the Totes Gebirge. For the more adventurous, a cave tour through the fascinating karst caves of Hinterstoder is recommended.
In addition to hiking, Hinterstoder offers a wide range of other sporting activities such as horse-drawn carriage rides, Nordic walking and running routes in the Stodertal valley, as well as exciting mountain bike routes, climbing tours and paragliding in the mountains. Tennis, mini golf and the skate park in the Hinterstoder leisure center also offer fun for all ages. The outdoor pool in Hinterstoder and the surrounding rivers, streams, ponds and lakes promise refreshment. Hinterstoder also offers numerous cultural attractions: From the annual fun run and challenging mountain runs to the Upper Austrian Literature Days and changing exhibitions in the Alpineum, where works by local and international artists are presented. The program is complemented by a variety of musical events.
