Schwarzenberg am Böhmerwald is worth a visit at any time of year. In summer, hikers get their money's worth in the border triangle, with numerous hiking trails leading through the Šumava National Park, past places of power and impressive viewpoints. Several hiking trails lead up to the 1,379 meter high Plöckenstein. For a longer tour, Schwarzenberg is an ideal starting point for the long-distance hiking trail "Weg der Entschleunigung".
In winter, Schwarzenberg am Böhmerwald is transformed into a popular winter sports area. Just 2 km away is the Hochficht ski area, the northernmost ski area in Upper Austria, which has been extended towards Schwarzenberg: 20 km of perfectly groomed pistes, nine lifts, night skiing for a unique winter experience and perfect conditions for families. The Schwarzenbergbahn cable car takes skiers and snowboarders directly to the slopes. With the live webcam in Schwarzenberg, you can get the latest images from the Schwarzenbergbahn valley station and find out about the snow and weather conditions in real time. There is also plenty to experience off the slopes in Schwarzenberg: Cross-country ski trails, a groomed toboggan meadow and snowshoe hiking trails that lead through the snowy winter landscape.
