Filipovice – Waldenburg in German – is located in the northeast of the Czech Republic in the district of Jeseník at an elevation of 474 m. The municipality was established in 1964 with the merger of the villages of Adolfovice (Adeldorf), Domašov (Thomasdorf) and the two settlements of Bělá and Filipovice (Philippsdorf), and today has 1,826 inhabitants.
The village lies at the foot of picturesque Altvater mountains and offers nature lovers numerous activities in summer and winter. The extensive nature reserves around Filipovice provide habitat for numerous plant and animal species such as the wryneck and hazel grouse, both of which are on the list of endangered species. Marked biking and hiking trails guide visitors throughout the impressive landscape.
