Bad Herrenalb is situated in Baden-Württemberg rural district of Calw. It is a spa town with 7,600 inhabitants. The town lies at an altitude of 365 m in the northern Black Forest region and covers an area of 33,03 km².

Mehliskopf at an altitude of 1000 m, the ski area is located directly at the Black Forest Panorama Road. At Talwiese in the Upper Gais Valley you find a 2-km-long cross-country ski run offering access to the Northern Black Forest cross-country ski trail network. In the neighbouring Kaltenbronn village there are also the 16-km-long Kaltenbronn-Grünhütte cross country ski run and the 21,5-km-long Kaltenbach alpine cross country skiing trail.

Bad Herrenalb is located between Schwaben and Baden, so the regional food is a fine fusion of these two traditional kitchens.
