Neureichenau is a German municipality in the state of Bavaria (capital: Munich). It belongs to the Freyung-Grafenau district and is home to 4,411 people. Embedded in the Danube Forest between the three countries Germany, Czech Republic and Austria, Neureichenau is only 26km from the Czech and 7kim from the Austrian border.
1,333m Dreisessel is located in the northeast of Neureichenau. Its highest point – Hochstein – features a distinctive granite rock with a summit cross and is a very popular hiking destination for its fantastic view as far as the Alps. 0,5km south of the summit you see three granite rocks: Dreisesselfels rock. There you also find Dreisessel mountain restaurant offering food and drink in the winter and the summer. The German-Czech border is only a few meters away.
Dreisesselberg is a very popular destination as a public road leads right to the mountain restaurant and then it is only a few minutes to the summit cross.

1,364m Plöckenstein is the second highest mountain of the region.
"Dreisessel" (Three Seats) refers to the rocks‘ unique shape.
When holidaying in Neureichenau you will hear of "Steinerne Meer" (literally „Rocky Sea”): big boulders on the southside of Dreisessel, 400m long and 250m wide.
Winter enthusiasts will be thrilled by the fantastic snowy scenery surrounding Neureichenau. Skiing, snowshoeing or X-country skiing, stunning views will always be on your side. Ski lifts are in Altreichenau (Bureiberglift at Haus Bergland) and at the camping round (Zwergerllift).
Hochficht and Mitterdorf ski resorts are very close.
Hochficht ski resort boasting 20km of piste and ten lifts is very popular with families. Fichtl Kids Park is ideal for the little ones to learn skiing. Mitterdorf ski centre is a family’s paradise, featuring lifts, magic carpet, ski carousel and snowtubing run.

There are many x-country trails nearby such as 27km Adalbert-Stifter-trail, especially suitable for families and beginners, or 150km Bayerwaldloipe running from Lohberg to Neureichenau.
