Winterberg in the Sauerland

The Winterberg ski lift network spans several mountains around the town and offers 34 runs totaling 27.5 kilometers of slopes in the core area. Easy, intermediate, and advanced slopes cater to winter sports enthusiasts of all skill levels. In addition, there are floodlit runs, tobogganing opportunities, and ski lodges. Since the 2026/27 season, Winterberg, Altastenberg, the Postwiese, Sahnehang, and Ruhrquelle have been marketed collectively as the Winterberg Ski Lift Carousel; the network comprises a total of 45 kilometers of slopes. Once the snow has melted, Winterberg becomes a popular destination for hiking and biking. The Rothaarsteig trail winds through the Rothaar Mountains and passes the Kahler Asten, one of the region’s most famous peaks. There are also numerous other hiking trails through forests, across highlands, and along high-altitude heathlands. Mountain bikers will find an extensive network of trails as well as activities at the bike park. The Kappe Adventure Mountain, with its panoramic adventure bridge and other recreational activities, also offers plenty of variety.
