Where is Gossensass?
Nicely embedded in the mountain chains of the Eisack Valley, the village of Gossensass (in Italian: Colle Isarco) sits close to the Brenner Pass in the Wipp Valley in South Tyrol/Italy. It is the main village of the Brenner municipality, 10 km south of the Austrian/Italian border near the town of Sterzing (Sterzing webcam). It lies at an altitude of 1,098 m and is home to 1,150 people. From here you can see the Pflersch Valley and the Stubai Alps.
The nearest airport is located in Innsbruck /Austria, just 50 km away.
What's going on at Colle Isarco in the Summer?
Discover the impressive Alpine scenery and its stunning panorama on hiking and bicycle tours. The nearby village of Ladurns boasts a dreamlike and diverse hiking area – from easy hiking trails along alpine pastures to very demanding peak tours – everything is possible.
A recommended destination is the waterfall “To Hell” (“Zur Hölle”), which is located in the upper Pflersch Valley. Start the hike at St. Anton, enjoy the perfect panoramic view of the Tribulaun and the Stubai Alps until you reach the waterfall, an impressive natural monument.
The area is a real cyclist's paradise: enjoy mountain bike trails or E-bike tours or discover the Brennero – Bolzano Bicycle Route. Mountaineers and hikers are attracted by the Tribulaun and the Feuerstein Glacier.
