Since the opening of the Montreux-Bernois railway in 1904 the village has become a very popular holiday destination. Videmanette – a.k.a. the Dolomites of Gstaad – is a well-known ski resort, being connected to the Gstaad ski area since 1984. Rougemont offers a wide array of activities also in summer: hiking, mountain biking, via ferratas, summer tobogganing or white-water adventure on the river Saane. Summer cross-country skiing is offered at “Glacier 3000”. Lauenensee Nature Reserve displays many waterfalls, glaciers and bogs and is a very popular recreation area.
