Where is Saas-Almagell and Heidbodme Ski resort?

Surrounded by the mountains of the Valais Alps at 1,672 m you find the Swiss community of Saas-Almagell. This Saas Valley village is the most southern of the Saas-Fee/Saas valley holiday region. It is home to 364 people, Heidbodme - Saas-Almagell ski resort is in Saas-Fee.

Skiing in Saas-Almagell

This Valais winter sports resort is known for its reliable snow situation throughout the winter. Heidbodme - Saas-Almagell ski resort (2.400 m) features 12 km of piste of various degrees of difficulty ranging from 1,672 m to 2,400 m in altitude. Seven ski lifts take winter sports enthusiasts up to the top of the mountains offering stunning views of the Valais Alps.

All sorts of outdoor activities are possible: x-country skiing, snowshoeing, winter hiking, ice skating, snowtubing or tobogganing on a 3km run down to the village from Furggstalden.

Other ski resorts close by are: Saas-Fee glacier ski resort boasting deep snow slopes, moguls and 145 km of piste, 100km of them on the glacier. One of the best terrain parks in Switzerland: Morenia terrain park.

There are many après ski bars to relax and unwind after an exciting day outdoors.

A special highlight is the world’s highest revolving restaurant at Mittelallalin (3.457 m). The restaurant rotates 360° in one hour. Enjoy fantastic food along with ever changing scenery.

What to do in Saas-Almagell in the summer?

This idyllic village is the perfect place to find peace and quiet away from the daily hustle and bustle and it has a lot to offer also in the summer.

Being the smallest of the Saas valley villages, it attracts walkers and hikers from all over the world as it is home to vast net of hiking routes.

Saas Valley is home to Europe’s highest earth dam: Mattmark dam can be explored on a loop trail, it is an easy hike also suitable for mountain bikers.

Almagelleralp is a very popular destination and can be reached via Almagelleralp high altitude trail: from Kreuzboden via Furggstalden to Almagelleralp. Almagellerhorn adventure trail runs over a 70m high rope bridge.

Suonenpfad trail leading to Saas-Grund is a very beautiful hike. Or walk even higher to Monte-Moro pass and Antrona-Pass.

Heidbodme top station boasts a fantastic view over a number of mountains 4,000m high, Saas valley and Monte-Rosa-mountains. Saas-Fee is the ideal starting point for the tour around Monte Rosa and is considered one of the classics among the several-day hikes.
