Located on the southern shore, Maurach is all about the unique Lake Achensee. The Buchau Beach is very popular especially among families for its pleasant water temperatures of about 22°C and gently sloping lakeside. The village of Maurach is the school centre of the region and has been the terminal stop of the Achensee steam rack railway for nearly 120 years. On its way from Jenbach in the Inn Valley to Lake Achensee this train masters a difference in altitude of 440m. Visitors are charmed by the magic of the lake and the colourful meadows.  The Rofan Cable Car, one of Tyrol’s most popular summer lifts, does not only take hiking enthusiasts to numerous sights, such as the ’Adlerhorst’ viewing platform or the spectacular skyglider ‘Airrofan’, a special flying apparatus offering  a bird’s eye view of the fantastic landscape.  The Rofan Mountains are a real insider tip for routes of any degree of difficulty.  Explore the lake from a little bit higher with a paraglider or join the sailors and surfers right on the lake.
