Reith im Alpbachtal stands for untouched nature, traditional villages and the famous Tyrolean hospitality. The village church and the surrounding farms convey the authentic Tyrolean way of life. A special traditional highlight of the region is the cattle drive in the fall. Festively decorated cows parade through the village, accompanied by a farmers' market, traditional crafts, music and regional specialties.
In winter, Reith offers a wide range of opportunities for winter fun. Whether skiing, winter hiking or simply enjoying the snow-covered landscape - there's something for everyone here. The Reither Kogel ski area is perfect for beginners and children. A special highlight is night skiing, which takes place three times a week under floodlights. Well-prepared cross-country ski trails, cleared winter hiking trails and toboggan runs are available for fun in the snow away from the pistes. If you are looking for a bigger challenge on the slopes, a free ski bus takes you to the nearby Skijuwel Alpbach-Wildschönau ski area. All information on the currently open pistes and lifts in the area can be found on the webcams.
Reith is also an excellent starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the surrounding mountains, with mountain huts in the area inviting you to take a break. The Reither Kogel is also a popular destination in summer: the family-friendly Juppi Magic Forest delights young and old with play stations and interactive elements. Mountain bikers can choose from trails of varying levels of difficulty that offer magnificent views over the Alpbachtal.
The region also has a lot to offer culturally: An excursion to Kropfsberg Castle in Reith provides an insight into the history of the knightly era. The ruins can be explored on a walk if booked in advance. Matzen Castle, a former fortification from the 16th century, is now a hotel. The surrounding 200,000 square meter Matzenpark invites you to take a stroll and is one of the most beautiful natural monuments in Tyrol.
There are other highlights worth seeing in the area around Reith. These include Alpbach, which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Austria, and the Museum of Tyrolean Farms in Kramsach, which offers fascinating insights into regional history. A special destination is Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria, which invites you to take a stroll with its glass art and charming alleyways.
