Hardegg is located in the district of Hollabrunn in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, right on the border with the Czech Republic. The town, which has only 79 inhabitants, is the smallest town in Austria and is idyllically nestled in the Thayatal National Park. Surrounded by dense forests and romantic valley landscapes, Hardegg offers a unique natural backdrop. You can reach the neighboring Czech Republic on foot or by bike via the Thayabrücke bridge. The webcam in Hardegg gives you a first impression of the picturesque surroundings of the Thayatal National Park and the current weather conditions.
The Thayatal National Park, the smallest national park in Austria, surrounds Hardegg with an impressive botanical and geological diversity. The Thaya meanders for 26 kilometers through the valley, which is up to 150 meters deep, and connects the Austrian nature reserve with the adjacent Czech national park Podyjí. Together they form one of the most diverse nature reserves in Central Europe, which is accessible via a bridge from Hardegg.
