Whatever the time of year, the region offers a wide range of activities and traditional events. Particularly well-known are the carnival race on "Damischer Montag" (Rose Monday), the Almabtrieb on the last Saturday in September and the Perchtenlauf, which characterize the cultural life of the region.
A walk through Oberwölz takes you through historic town gates, past the almost completely preserved town wall, which provides an insight into the town's fortified past. The most important sights include the parish and hospital churches, the Marian Column and the Museum of Local History and Brass Music, which is located in the town fortifications at the Schöttltor gate. If you want to delve deeper into history, you can take part in a guided tour of the town. If it does get wet, the Austrian Brass Music Museum or the Museum of Local History offer a nice alternative. The region also offers an impressive natural backdrop with a unique blend of tranquillity, impressive mountain landscapes and warm hospitality. Whether hiking, cycling or taking a break in one of the rustic mountain huts - Oberwölz-Lachtal is a place to relax and enjoy nature.
